NICHOLAS CAPOFARI

I am a data enthusiast. Ever since I started entering Strat-O-Matic baseball stats into Quattro Pro as a kid, I have loved numbers and computers. I taught High School Mathematics in New York City public schools for 10 years after college. During that time I went to school at night and online to earn a Master of Science for Teachers at Pace University and a Master of Science in Data Science at the City University of New York School of Professional Studies.

Three years ago I left the classroom to start my data journey. I am currently a Data Specialist working for the New York City Department of Education, specifically in the District 75 Assessment and Accoutability office. Our team supports over 60 NYC DOE schools and 25,000 students, all with special needs. I love using data to help inform school leadership to make decisions that are going to benefit our students’ school experience.

My four young children keep me pretty busy but when I do get some leisure time, I love to read, listen to music, and play basketball. I also enjoy long distance running. I pride myself on being someone who is considered dependable and resilient.
